POPRI Wins at the Prestigious European Competition EEPA 2025

Copenhagen/Vrtojba, 11 November 2025 – The POPRI programme of the Primorska Technology Park has achieved remarkable success at the prestigious European Enterprise Promotion Awards 2025 (EEPA), where it won in the category “Supporting the Internationalisation of Business.” This outstanding achievement marks a milestone for the Slovenian entrepreneurial ecosystem, demonstrating the exceptional potential of Slovenian initiatives at the European level.

The European Enterprise Promotion Awards (EEPA) is a prestigious European competition that has been held since 2006. Participants include applicants from 30 EU member states and additional associated countries within the framework of the SME programme. This year, more than 300 projects competed, with 55 finalists selected across six categories.

The awards ceremony took place on 11 November 2025 in Copenhagen, Denmark, as part of the SME Assembly, organised by the European Commission. The winners were selected by an independent international jury of experts from various fields. In their evaluation, the jury considered innovation, economic impact, sustainability, influence on entrepreneurship, and the potential for replicability in other regions.

The 2025 European Enterprise Promotion Awards were presented in six categories. Primorska Technology Park, with its POPRI programme, triumphed in the category Supporting the Internationalisation of Business, receiving high recognition for its comprehensively designed programme that delivers long-term impact and strong transferability — already proven by the successful implementation of the POPRI model in 10 European countries.

The Director of Primorska Technology Park, Ms. Tanja Kožuh, MSc, expressed her sincere gratitude and pride for the award:

“I am truly honoured to receive this recognition and grateful that POPRI has been acknowledged as a programme contributing to a better future for Europe. I am very proud of the thousands of young people who have participated in POPRI, joined incubators and technology parks across 10 European countries, and are now successful entrepreneurs. My heartfelt thanks go to my colleagues and everyone who supports POPRI and believes in our mission – to help young people transform their way of thinking into an entrepreneurial mindset.”

For over 20 years, POPRI has been transforming the mindset of young people through entrepreneurial activities and a national and international entrepreneurship competition. POPRI is a key element of Slovenia’s national entrepreneurial ecosystem, connecting young people, entrepreneurs, the business support environment, and educational institutions, thereby providing youth with their first contact with entrepreneurship and helping them develop business ideas during their education.

The POPRI programme activates the entrepreneurial potential of young people and contributes to the creation of new companies that represent an important part of the European economy and the generation of new jobs.

The Primorska Technology Park is the lead organisation of the POPRI programme. Co-organisers include the Ministry of the Economy, Technology and Sport, the Office of the Republic of Slovenia for Slovenians Abroad, SPIRIT Slovenia, public agency, the Slovenian Enterprise Fund, and the Municipality of Nova Gorica and Municipality of Šempeter-Vrtojba.
Strategic partners of POPRI are RC Novo mesto – Podbreznik Business Incubator, SAŠA Incubator, and Technology Park Ljubljana.
The international part of the competition is supported by the Ministry of Foreign and European Affairs of the Republic of Slovenia, the Ministry of Cohesion and Regional Development, the EU Strategy for the Adriatic-Ionian Region (EUSAIR), and the network of international incubators and technology parks of the Adriatic-Ionian macro-region.

We are proud to announce that POPRI, the competition for young entrepreneurial ideas led by Primorski Tehnološki Park, has been selected among the European finalists of the prestigious European Enterprise Promotion Awards 2025 (EEPA) in the category “Supporting the Internationalisation of Business.”

Since 2006, the European Commission has recognized outstanding initiatives that promote entrepreneurship and strengthen the entrepreneurial spirit across Europe.

Being shortlisted among the best European projects confirms POPRI’s role as a leading model for fostering youth entrepreneurship, connecting education, business, and the entrepreneurial support ecosystem.

For over 20 years, POPRI has empowered young people to develop entrepreneurial ideas, receive mentorship, and exchange experiences both nationally and internationally. The program now includes 10 European countries, contributing to the spread of entrepreneurial knowledge, internationalization, and the sustainable development of the economy. 💪

GO!2025 Talents: Innovating at the Heart of Europe – Nova Gorica-Gorica

Invitation to the Round Table

The national RTV Slovenia project "Talents of EU Regions" addresses a pressing European issue – the brain drain. This challenge particularly affects peripheral and cross-border regions, which are increasingly facing the outmigration of young people and a lack of development opportunities.

What do young people from the cross-border area of Nova Gorica and Gorizia think about this?
Do they feel there are real opportunities for personal and professional growth in their home region?
Is youth creativity being overlooked, or can it become a driving force for change?

At the round table, we will talk with young people about their perspectives, challenges, and ideas for the future. We will also highlight successful initiatives such as POPRI, which provides young people with practical knowledge and entrepreneurial skills. What impact does this have on their future and on society as a whole?
